NEW SHERIFF'S SUB STATION
The new Hernando County Sheriff's Sub Station and community center in South Brooksville is nearing completion. Located at the corner of Dr Martin Luther King Blvd. and 50 East. It will help the department efforts to cut crime in the area. In addition, it will provide a much needed community center for area activites. Target date for completion is the first of August.
HERNANDO YOUTH LEAGUE
The Hernando Youth League is hosting the 2009 Girls Dixie Softball State Tournament this weekend. All games are at Tom Varn Park in Brooksville. Play got underway Friday July 3rd., and will run through the championship game Sunday July 5th. Games start each day at 10am. Teams from some 16 cities are participating, some as far away as Homes County in the Florida Panhandle. (pictured 9 and 10 year old group, the Angels)
HERNANDO HIGH'S NEW FIELD HOUSE
Is Hernando High's new field house finally coming together? The new locker rooms, showers and coaches offices were scheduled for completion back in February. The three modular pieces seem to be slowly coming together over the last few weeks. Can they make it by kickoff in September?
