Jason Aldean Co-Hosts 10/16

Lon’s co-host this week is Jason Aldean.  He tells Lon he’s amazed by the success of “If I Didn’t Love You,” his duet with Carrie Underwood:  “I think it’s the fastest moving song I’ve ever had.  We felt we had something special, especially with Carrie being on it.  But I don’t think we expected it to move as fast as it has.  Obviously it’s a good problem to have.  It’s what you wanna see.”

He also described the recording session, with both of them in the studio: “I really set myself up for failure with this.  When you go in the studio with Carrie, you know quick who the best singer in the room is, and it’s not you. You know from the first few notes, it just felt like it was gonna be something big & special. it happened so fast. Two weeks later, it was mixed and mastered and sent to radio.”

When Luke Bryan was Lon’s co-host in August, he talked about his Nashville concert, where he invited Jason to join him on stage. Jason gave his side of that story: “That particular night was so special.  I was there, FGL’s Tyler Hubbard was there, and then Morgan Wallen came out.  I don’t think I’ve ever heard a crowd pop the way they did that night for Morgan.  It was just a real cool moment.”

Jason has been on the road these last few months with Lainey Wilson.  Lon asked about Jason about the night Lainey’s song went #1: “We had a big celebration for her, it was such a cool moment, it was a big deal for her, we made sure everyone know she had the #1 song, and she was a lot of fun on tour. I’m glad it worked out to where she could experience that.”

Just last week, Jason and his wife Brittany brought their two youngest kids out on his tour: “We just did a west coast run, and we took the kids to Disneyland for three days.  They had a lot of fun.  I have a show on Halloween, and they’re going to be there, so I told my tour manager that every bus has to have candy.  They’ll trick or treat backstage.  Everybody backstage has to dress up, and everybody has to have candy.”

A few weeks ago, Jason posted a picture of him with rapper Pitbull.  He explained it to Lon: “Pit is my new buddy! We were in Arkansas, and he was there. He called and asked if could hang after the show. So we said yes.  He bartended at our bar backstage, it was so cool.  It was so unexpected.  They ask, ‘Do you care if Pitbulll comes?’ and then he came out, and it was one of the best nights on the whole tour.”
