Top 5: Cold Beer Calling My Name

Lon’s co-host this week is Jameson Rodgers.  Or rather, the newly-married Jameson Rodgers! “Yes, i can’t believe she actually showed up to the wedding!  I was expecting her to bail the whole time, but I convinced her to marry me somehow.”

Jameson told Lon he met his wife Sarah ten years ago at Nashville’s famous club The Bluebird: “I met her at a songwriting workshop, and I had a crush on her ever since. It took us a few years to begin dating.  We’ve been together ever since,”

The couple spent a few days together after the wedding, and then Jameson hit the road for a headline tour: “We’re going to do an official honeymoon at the end of October. We’re going to Mexico, and I’ve never been there. I will be ready for a break by then.”

Several previous co-hosts have talked about an all-star golf trip to Pinehurst.  Jameson was there as well, playing golf with Randy Houser and Chris Lane. “I can’t imagine a better trip. It’s like golf heaven.  We played golf from 7 AM until dark.  I loved it so much, I took my dad and some buddies last May for my bachelor party.  We’re going to do it every year.”

Jameson’s current hit is a duet with Luke Combs.  “I didn’t have a record deal when he asked me to be on his tour.  He was a fan of my music.  That kickstarted me getting a record deal.  I asked him to sing on this song, and he said yes.  So I owe Luke more than one favor.  More than on cold beer!”

In the video for Jameson’s song “Cold Beer Calling My Name,” there’s a moment where someone threw a beer in the fire and it explodes.  Lon asked Jameson if that was an accident: “It was!  They told me to throw beers to the guys around the fire, and Luke batted one of them into the fire.  We were standing there, and it exploded.  Thankfully no one was hurt.  But we could never have planned it.”
